Pakistan Embassy in Bangkok refusing me to apply the tourist visa for a trekking to K 2 Base
Camp as Swiss national staying temporary as tourist in Thailand

Bangkok, 17th June 2012

Your Excellency

I mail you in great despair and would like ask for your urgent help. I'm planning to visit
Pakistan on July 4th for a trekking to K2 Base Camp. The Trekking Permit nr. 53 has already
been issued by the Gilgit Baltistan Council on June 7th, the tickets Bangkok - Islamabad -
Bangkok are booked an paid and the Hotel reservation done by my Trekking Agency NORTH
PAKISTAN ADVENTURE, Islamabad. Despite all these documents, including a recommendation
letter from Gilgit Baltistan Council to the Embassy of Pakistan in Bangkok, the Consular Section
is still refusing to grant me the tourist visa with the only reason, that I’m not permanent
resident in Thailand and have no work permit. As I told them already many times, I'm Swiss

Expat travelling since many years throughout South East Asia as tourist (I have no permanent
address in Switzerland or elsewhere). The Consular Section is also requesting an additional
letter of Recommendation from the Ministry of Interior. Since two weeks my Trekking Agency
is trying to obtain such a letter, this Ministry however is refusing to issue any letter in such
regard. I'm totally desperate. If I do'nt get the tourist within the next days, I will have to cancel
my trekking to K2. I was supposed to join the parents of Swiss climber Cedric Hählen who

went missing this spring on Gasherbrum II with his Pakistani friend Nisar Sadpara and to cover
the simple ceremony in honor to the late climbers for a swiss newspaper. May I urgently ask
for your help and to intervene among Government Officials in order to instruct the Consular
Office in Bangkok to grant me immediately the tourist visa. You are my very last hope.
