Living here for 25 years, Biel is the city I belong to. The town with a population of 50'000 lies
at the eastern end of Lake Biel and at the foot of the Jura mountains. What makes the city
very unique, is the charm of bilingualism. The city is on the language boundary between the
french speaking and german speaking part of Switzerland. For the german speaking people it's
known as Biel, for french speaking people as Bienne.
Vor acht Jahren war ich zuletzt in Biel. Einiges hat sich seither in der Stadt geändert. Es gibt
noch ein paar Kebabs mehr, dazu gekommen sind afrikanische, türkische und indische Läden.
Der Anteil von Ausländern ist fast ein wenig beängstigend geworden.
